Why Learning a Salto Is Different for Everyone?

With so many videos and tutorials on social media claiming you can learn a salto in a month, a day, an hour, or even 30 seconds, it can be really confusing. If it’s that easy, shouldn’t anyone be able to do it anytime? It sounds too good to be true — and for most people, it is.

How can someone learn to salto in an hour, let alone in a minute? The truth is, it’s part reality and part marketing.

Can someone learn a somersault in an hour?
Yes, in some rare cases, people can learn a salto quickly — in a day, an hour, or even minutes if they can perform 4-5 clean turns in that short time. But these are exceptional cases, and learning it within minutes is very unlikely.

On the flip side
Some people might take months, even over a year, to learn a salto. For many, it requires significant effort and time. But why?

  • Natural talent: Some people are naturally strong and coordinated, often because they grew up in active environments. For them, learning a flip in one session could be possible. However, just being able to “do” the skill doesn’t mean they’ve mastered it. There’s a difference between pulling off a salto once and truly mastering the technique.
  • Training background: Those with years of experience in working out, building strength, and power might be able to learn a salto within a few sessions. They often have the necessary strength and speed but might need to focus on refining their coordination.
  • Beginners: If you’ve never been into sports, training, or have less than a year of experience in physical activity, you’ll need to work on fundamentals like strength, speed, and power before nailing the salto. But it is absolutely possible with time and practice.

Remember, progress is personal
There are many factors that influence your learning, not just for a salto but for any skill. So, if you see others picking it up quickly while you’re still working on it, don’t compare! They come from a different background and have different experiences that shaped their abilities.

Focus on what you can improve, and you’ll not only achieve this skill but much more.

Let’s be a part of your journey to mastering your first salto!
